Dear Smackheadz_inc

I am pleased to know that you are seeking work.

However may I  suggest you pay more attention at school and learn to write better English.

This will help greatly when you apply for a job.

Tony

Just checking,  Keeley, when you wrote; "Looks like your ...." Did you mean to write; "It looks like you're..."

Also, when you wrote "Humerous, did you mean to write "Humorous"? I believe Humerous is something to do with funny bones ;-)

Thanks for your input. Keep up with the fries.

And as for those GCSE's, I understand they give those away in cereal packages these days.

Retake your GCSE's, 'kenneth' maboy, I'm fairly sure that due to 'kenneth' being a noun it should be capitalized. Your use of paragraphs is pretty poor too, and I'm fairly sure it's got nothing to do with the education system. I'm 14 and I haven't noticed any glaring errors in this little piece so far. I'd also suggest toning down on taking the Daily Mail too seriously.

Kenneth you seem to me like a knowledgable man, however i think you're being a bit cocky and inappropiately petty. Now i've been told my grammar is'nt excellent, and because of this i have written this without the aid of spellcheckers and programs of the sort. If you would care to be petty enough to comment on anything i may have done wrong, feel free, but i think your just petty, and what you are posting is not what this forum is supposed to be abput. Jason there are no jobs for 14 year olds other than paper rounds, i found this forum searching for a job which i could do as i am also 14.

Kenneth. You complain that we are not intelligent but we are. I am going to write the rest of this e-mail in teenager talk, and i bet you cannot decipher it. We are so intelligent that we can create our own language. FYI we teenagers are extremely intelligent. PPL these days give us no credit so shut rub-crubbin. So get off my back man coz u cant do jack to me ovet browser. Cyaz!

That was teenager talk. We use it so that adults cannot interfere with us because all adults meddle in our buisness which they do not have the right to do so "cram it". Acknowledging any of my mistakes will be appreciated as i am doing GCSE coursework in English and I need my grammar to be as good as it can, but please don't get cocky and point out typing erros such as spelling "the" with 2 e's. IE "thee". So please don't dis-respect us if there were more people in the world with jasons attitude then the world would be a better place.

Re: RE: Why are ther no jobs for 14 and a half year olds???

Joe, you have just ruined your own argument with your last posting.

Who would give you a job when your attitude is so very poor, generalistic and insulting to the very people who might employ you.

Lets put it this way, if you had a business and needed a worker on the lowest scale to do the jobs which people starting out are usually given, would you (a) give it to the person who showed respect towards your company and yourself or (b) give it to the person who thinks it clever to speak in his own chosen way, is generalistic about all adults in a derogatory manner and quite honestly doesnt know how to even format a letter or use correct puntuation.

I found your teenage language very easy to decipher, basic and almost juvenile and of course antagonistic and agressive in its nature regarding others.  Try that at work and you will be laughed out the door for your own stupidity.

Most probably you are a really nice person and your wanting a job is commendable, so get rid of the front, the language and try being yourself, try being likeable, chatty and interested in the position, try asking if you might work a few hours free gratis to show initiative and character and try being respectful to others but only as much as you would like to be respected back. This is also known as good manners which I am sure you possess as much as the next person.

This is not being patronising to young people but this is how adults have to behave in order to secure a job and then work with others to keep it. Just a few home truths, so stop whining and go out there and try, try, try until you get something worthwhile.  Are there any elderly people who need their gardens tidied? are there people who want their dogs walked when they are at work? odd jobs, shopping, there are many ways of earning a few bob until you are old enough to go down the Youth Employment route with professional help.

Stop moaning, get off your butt and get out there

Respect

I whole heartedly support every positive comment on this threat supports young people gain appropriate work and the work ethnic. I do not support negative, critical and arrogant comments of a few here who seem to put young people down and not being supportive of their independent potential, whatever the level of the work.

Sorry to ruin your theory, but I remind you that there are children with grammar better than adults' nationwide, and I also remind you that it is highly derogatory to talk of young people in this way. I also wish to point out the errors in your post; "He's 14 his spelling is not going to be as well as a us adults!" is not only a nonsensical sentence (nonsensical means that it doesn't make sense), but has a distinct lack of a colon after "He's 14", includes a misplaced and utterly unnecessary word: "a", lacks a possessive apostrophe after "adults” and also misuses the word "well", where "good" or "refined" would be far more suitable. Hence, you sentence would now read: "He's 14: his spelling is not going to be as refined as us adults’!"

I therefore find it highly hypocritical that you refer to children as having a worse understanding of grammar and spelling.

On a final note, I was 15 years old in august this year, and fail to see that "the current state of British education" as quoted from Kenneth, can be anything but good: there is no evidence nationwide that supports any other view. Incidentally, despite his rant about Jason Powell's education, Kenneth missed out a "that" after "I agree" in his post, and even spelt his name without a capital letter in his alias.

I believe the following quote from Samuel Johnson is applicable here: "Ignorance madam, pure ignorance".

Re: RE: Why are ther no jobs for 14 and a half year olds???

Jason's avin a larf innit.

If you aren't Jason I don't think you'll manage a paper round, you'd need to be able to count for that. The trouble is that at 14 you're not going to earn a very good hourly rate and I suspect you may be hoping for £4 or £5 per hour.  I hate to tell you but a good receptionist is lucky to get that.

Teachers seem to have an unfortunate habit of encouraging children to think that if they work hard they'll automatically get a good job and good salary.  It doesn't work that way.  Only the Chiefs get good pay, the rest of us Indians are stuck at the bottom and since there should be more Indians than Chiefs getting good grades does not automatically result in good wages.  (That's a simile isn't it Kenneth?) After the exams have been passed, you then have to start again - at the bottom.  The only advice I would give is whatever job you do, however lowly, put in on your CV.  It's all experience and it all counts and shows you have a good work ethic.

Good Luck

Have you tried down your local supermarkets?  When I was 15 I started a Saturday job at Somerfields as a freezer assistant, the pay wasn't brilliant but I managed to save alot and it started me on the road to work!

18 months, can't believe this thread is still going!
