Dawes Cycles most of it is made in south korea ,Its just assembled in Blighty.Plus they are having loads of trouble with metal fatigue on the stem and mounting bolts; Lets hope they don't make planes with the same hi-tec alloy, where's bicycle repair man he's needed by Dawes.

Filming the maggots this week and sending it to channel 4 for there a documentary on Bin-men and SIR Trev for his programme on recycling, They won't like it at city hall.

No need to , these little buggers always turn-up on day 12 of bin cycle. At least the natural wild life of Britain is increasing , blue bottles and green bottles and sweet charming little house -flies. David Attenborough will be impressed. Its the Discovery 601 and Giro 500 that are falling apart , not up to a bit of bone-shaking ! cheap metals and crap foreign workers.

From what I hear from folks in South Norfolk who have had AWC for a few years now, and wouldn't change it at all, and are very satisfied; they say if you follow simple guidelines, don't put dead cats and squirrels in, and don't treat a bin like a maggot farm and fest; no problems. These residents are experienced and doing AWC practices right. This might be where you are goin wrong madmaggot. Anyway, maggots hatch in 24 hrs, so collecting 7 or 14 days is an irrelevant issue.

The two key issues are the meat contents and the access to flies. Waste in tied black bin bags, bin lid down is a standard practice. Put a raw steak exposed for 24 hrs in a bin, no bag, lid up = maggot+flies. Its the same with rats. Bag n Bin=no rats. Just bag side waste=rats.
DM is a schizophenic rag on maggots. Good and hygenic for hosiptals, fishing; unhygenic in bins.

Perhaps madmaggot you could turn a profit from your maggot farm by raising them for fishing tackle shops or doctors in hospitals???

I am not alone with my baby maggots sounds like there is a infestion up and down Britain. Millions of house holders climbing into their foul stinking bins armed with flyspray, lets hope all that insectide don't get into their own lungs. Blue bottle you could become king or queen fly or Lord of the flies. The time is now to return once aweek collections.

Thniking about it logically, weekly collections coming back to Norwich has the same political chance of 15 Nu Party councillors getting in a future council. Like zero chance, its a non starter fringe and retrograde issue. Labour/LibDems/Green/Tories in Norwich are committed to AWC, all 38. Eric Pickles is a lone maggot with the majority of Tory councillors, poking pickles fun, and supporting cost effective alternative weekly collections. They've backed value for money pragmatics as opposed to expensive somatics.

I thought this link was cycling , where's bicycle repair-man gone! no more from him for another 2 years?. Cycling is good in the right condition's but there just too many other vehicles on the roads for myself to be tempted back on to two wheels. Every one is is such rush for work and home, for me won't let my children bike to school I do feel like a killjoy for them but life is to pressures ,so now they walk nasty old irons-mad .

Walking is good for kids and works off the favoured burgers and chips diet. This is OK if your school is 1 miles away, but cycling a better option if the school is 1.5-4 miles. Many schools are looking at travel plans/ safe cycle routing.
I share the concerns of many parents, as a parent myself. Cycling needs to be safer with greater separation of cyclists/cars. More Bike lanes/routes to/from schools. This might mean only access vehicles down some roads, and making some footways/ wider footways cycle routes. Other ideas are traffic lights priority areas/box for cyclist that seems to keep cyclists a head start on traffic.
Training cyclists does make cyclists and kids more confident, awareness and responsible on the road. Research suggest trained proficient cyclists make better safer drivers later.
