Puffin crossings
How are the new Puffin crossings in Norwich safer than the old pedestrian crossings? Especially for kids! It only takes one person to stand in front of the green/red men and you have no idea whether to cross or not. And as soon as you step out, you have no guide as to when the light is going to change back to red and instead run the risk of being mown down by those impatient drivers! You take your life in your hands everytime you use one Hmm [^o)]

Re: Puffin crossings

Yes I agree, especially in busy crowded central crossings where many bodies obscure chest height lights .

Old crossings lights should come back. The puffin lights involved takes over 1000 schoolkids per day, crossing twice a day. Should be worried!!!!

Problem is council highway officers think they know better, procrastrastinate, defence past flawed decisions / risk of liability and delay prompt remedary action to

Case in point. I was run down on the Heigham Rd twin zebra crossing as the lines were rubbed out. wrote to highways officer about the dangerous state of the crossing. It took him 6 months to get contractors in to put white lines back in. This is after trying to weasel wording himself from liability or actions, saving pennies, risking schoolkids lives; he was forced to by concerned community/councillor pressure over this zebra crossing and several others. Now safety is fl avour of the month. But it should not have got to this stage, and the officers attitude more proactive towards paramount rather than relative safety.
