I am 14 and i am also looking for a job and it seems to be really hard a wander around town looking for a job opening in my local town. Right now i am a paperboy and i still want to keep that job and have another but my employer pays below the minimum wage and takes my christmas tips.

You obviously deserve to have a job as you already have a paper round. You must have applied to the shop to get this job therefore you really know what to do to get a job. My niece age 15 years just got a job in a shop so there are obviously jobs around if you go to places of employment and ask if they need someone like you who is willing to work. You will obviously get the sort of job you would like if you keep on trying. Good Luck.
To those people who have little to offer an employer and groan rudely about everone else and complain I say, start acting politely towards others and at least you will have this to offer to an employer otherwise I cannot see some of you ever getting a job. Surely it is obvious to you that unless you offer what an employer wants they will not employ you.

to be honest i think that spelling doesn't matter at this age! im 14 now and i do spell correctly but jason is 14 for gods sake lol. all teenegers use msn and that to chat and use msn talk, and i need a job also. its hard because people think 14 yr olds are childish but infact we ar all quite mature these days and need to earn money for ourselves. so all you parents who are complaining about language on the computer are abit out of order telling us we need to type properly. we need jobs so we can learn how to be disiplined and to manage money.
thankyouuu
hope someone replies to what i have to say

Jason was fourteen and a half when he posted his comments on 29-3-2005 and therefore must now be seventeen and a half years old and hopefully in full time employment.
You say that you are 14 years old and need money and a job and you also say that you think spelling doesn't matter at age 14.
If you need money and a job and there is a vacant job sweeping up or cleaning cattle pens etcetera it probable won't matter if you can't spell but if you really do need money and a job and there are no vacancies sweeping or cleaning then you will stand a greater chance of some other job if you can spell or take messages that other people can read.
This applies to any person of 14 years old or 50 years old or more.
When I was 13 years old I worked in a shop and sometimes had to serve customers, sweep up, or to take orders on the telephone and the orders had to be read and made up and delivered by someone else.
I wouldn't have got this job if my writing and spelling had not been readable by the person getting up the orders.
Unfortunately with food getting scarcer and jobs getting more difficult to get, all of us, even those complaing parents you talk about, may have to do jobs that we don't like if we want to eat.
Sorry if what I have written is unpalatable but good luck and keep trying.

I'm 14 and I understand that the way many teenagers spell things is sometimes hard to understand but not all teenagers are like that! I recently found a job making beds at my local holiday park, the pay is quite good and it includes free transport in bank holidays and weekends. I'm also searching for part time sales and/or catering jobs by walking round town and inquiring in shops etc. I want to start saving my money as I am hoping to further my education by going to university later and I prefer to save up for something I want rather than asking my parents for things!

Why do we go on about Spelling? Well, I do agree with BT. Poor Spelling isn't something to be proud of. Even if you don't care about your Spelling, grammar or punctuation now, you will care in the futre for job applications and other stuff. So, just keep this one thing in your head, Enjoy your last years of teenage life, because it isn't easy being a adult.

I think it is quite sad that quite a few adults feel the need to critisise a teenager about his spelling on an INTERNET forum as this is how most people (including adults) talk on the internet. I feel it is great for a fourteen year old to want a job, I'm fourteen and have recently lost my paper round due to lack of interest and I'm currently browsing the internet for job opportunities and hope to find one!
good luck Jason
peace out
