Gressenhall Farm and Workhouse
RADIO BROADLAND FUNDRAISING EVENT

RadioBroadlandKidz has joined forces with staff from Gressenhall Farm and Workhouse and Npeg to raise funds for local charities and community groups.

The fundraising event takes place on the evening of Friday 30 November. Approximately sixty adults, who have each pledged to raise a minimum of £50 in sponsorship, will spend the night in the old Victorian workhouse.

Accompanied by members of the Norwich paranormal experience group the selected groups will tour the workhouse soaking up the atmosphere of the dormitories, laundry and the cell used to punish miscreant inmates.

Gressenhall staff and volunteers are giving their time free of charge to support RadioBroadlandKidz and Norfolk County Services are providing the catering free of charge. RadioBroadlandKidz raises funds for charities and community groups working with disadvantaged and isolated young people in Norfolk and Suffolk. This event is just one of many fundraising events held throughout the year.

Area Museums Officer Stuart Gillis said “ We know that Gressenhall has something that’s really special. And we’re really pleased to share what we have to raise money for RadioBroadlandKidz. By staying in the workhouse until the early hours I know we will feel a connection with those who have lived and worked here before us.”

To join the RadioBroadlandKidz’s fundraising event at Gressenhall Farm and Workhouse please contact Ann Tattam – Charity Manager, Radio Broadland on 01603 671169 or ann.tattam@gcapmedia.com

Gressenhall Farm and Workhouse
Gressenhall is a museum that tells the story of the ordinary people of rural Norfolk. The museum is housed in a historic workhouse set in 50 acres of unspoilt countryside. There is a traditional working farm with rare breed animals and there are gardens and country trails.

Many of the displays are hands-on and all provide a vivid glimpse into lives of people in the past. New for 2007 are the unique Workhouse Laundry and the redeveloped Prehistory Gallery. For more information about or to contact us call 01362 860563 or visit www.museums.norfolk.gov.uk
