Young Sam’s inclusion a positive move
Norfolk fielded their youngest player in nearly 50 years on Sunday when 16-year-old Sam Arthurton took the field for the final Minor Counties Championship match of the season against Buckinghamshire.

Pietersen's big test comes when the chips are down
Kevin Pietersen made a winning start to his England captaincy in the final Test against South Africa at The Oval and he is one of those charismatic characters that writes his own script.

Outspoken KP is sure to do it his way
You can't keep too many secrets in cricket and it was no great surprise when Kevin Pietersen was named as England's new Test and one-day captain. I suppose given his ability and form he was one of the few obvious candidates for the role taking charge of the Test, one-day and Twenty20 sides.

Twenty20 Cup final had me glued to box
It was like a journey back in time to see Middlesex lift a trophy when they beat Kent by three runs in Saturday's thrilling Twenty20 Cup final at the Rose Bowl.

Horsford take their chance
Many congratulations must go to my old club Horsford on a fabulous result over Vauxhall Mallards in the Bob Carter Cup semi-final last Sunday. I believed, on paper, the overall strength and experience of Mallards would surely tell on the day, but not so.

Freddie key to England’s chances
England struggled for two days to make a dent in South Africa's second innings during the drawn first Test at Lord's. On that pitch, you needed someone in your armoury with the pace to disturb batsmen and although the current set of guys are quick through the air, there is something lacking in terms of real pace.

Sunday best can secure Norfolk that trip to Lord’s
Norfolk play Devon in the semi-final of the MCCA Knockout Trophy competition on Sunday and, having lost to Staffordshire in the early group stages, the side has done fantastically well to recover and rightly take their place in the last four.

Don’t let louts wreck Twenty20 fun
I'm all in favour of Twenty20 cricket and it has brought a whole new audience to cricket matches - but I have to admit my trip to Chelmsford last Friday was a bit of an eye-opener.

Pietersen’s reverse sweep slog is a big hit with me
Kevin Pietersen's remarkable hits for six off Scott Styris in the first one-day international against New Zealand have certainly sparked a lively debate over the legality of the shot, which I would call a reverse sweep slog.

No need for a panic over Colly wobble
England duly completed the series win I expected thanks to their innings victory over New Zealand in the third Test at Trent Bridge. When the Kiwis reflect on their 2-0 Test series defeat, they will look back with regret at the afternoon session on the third day of the second Test at Old Trafford.
