Your tributes to Robert Key

Robert Key 23-year-old Robert Key from Hempnall died in a crash on one of the county's most notorious stretches of road. Keep-fit fanatic Mr Key had been at the gym in De Vere Dunston Hall when his motorcycle was in collision with a car on Saturday, December 17. The car driver also died. Mr Key was born with brain damage and doctors thought he would never be able to walk or talk properly but he amazed family and friends by going on to lead a normal life.

Tributes to man killed in horror smash (December 19, 2006)

A very special cousin loved by us all imensely. The happiest person you could know. Robert was always laughing and a truely admirable person. We have many fond memories of growing up together..... the hiccup gang! and long walks through the woods at Nanny L's. But most of all Robert's amazing character has always shone through as a child and as a growing adult.

He is truely missed and is a huge loss to all of our family. He touched many hearts in his life and he will always be remembered as a kind and happy person. Our thoughts are with everyone who had the pleasure of knowing Robert.

Robert you will always be in our thoughts and hearts

Amy, Lucy and Verity

He was the nicest, most innocent person I have ever met. A kind spirit beautiful inside and out. A friend to everyone who had the pleasure of meeting him and never had ill feeling towards anyone. I'm going to miss the man who gave so much happiness to his friends and family.

Rob absolutely lived for his family, I know how much they meant to him and im really sorry for their loss. All my love goes to his family. He will never be forgotten and people will always have an image of him smiling in the back of their minds. I know I will.

Without him a big hole is going to be left in the lives of everyone who knew him. Rob brought people together, always organising get togethers with his friends and was at his happiest when surrounded by the people who loved him.

Im so sorry you're gone mate, we will miss you so much. There will never be another person with the same outlook on life as you.

George and Lisa

I had the pleasure of knowing Rob Key all of my life all 22 years of it. We grew up in the same village, our parents knew each other and first became friends at Hempnall first school and the friendship grew going to the local cub scout group, but mostly playing rugby at Lakenham Hewett where his dad was coach.
Despite doctors not giving him much of a chance at birth he proved them wrong, giving 120% in everything that he did be it work, rest, and play and with the support of family and friends.

I look back on the times I spent him with a smile and much joy. He had a super sense of humour and no matter what the situation would light up a room with his smile and a cheeky laugh. Many a laugh was had while rehearsing for the Christian aid fund raising event we did once a year while we were in the local youth group as the two females from ABBA, he was always willing to do anything to help in any way he could.

A real gentleman he would always ask people round for a drink or just to ask how you and your family, both he and his family always made you feel welcome part of the family almost.

Because of this when I heard the news of the tragic accident it felt like I had lost part of my family. The shock of his loss has not sunk in and I doubt it will for a long time. There is not a single person who knew him that will not be affected by this, a very special person with a special place in everyone's heart. He will be sadly missed, always loved, but never forgotten.

Michael Tidder

I will never forget the memories of our Lakenham Hewett 'Youth Rugby' Team. With both our dads, 'Billy' and 'Kevin', forming the Lakenham minis, they certainly got us running about on those cold sunday mornings. I can remember them very clearly! You (along with Tidder) were one of the few who were there from the start of the 'Mini's' in the mid 90's. Great memories of a great guy who did not have one piece of bad blood in his body. Rest peacefully Rob.

Steve Maddams

Rob, we can't believe you are gone. Growing up with you in Hempnall has been a real honour -and I think all that grew up with you would agree. This is such a sad time but I smile through the tears as I remember happier times -spent with HYF crabbing in Walberswick, at Pleasure Wood Hills, Weekends at Horstead, the weeks running up to Christian Aid concerts, nights at Pizza Hut, and all the Sundays evenings spent hanging around up the mill. You are such big part of all those memories Rob, and you will never be forgotten in the hearts of all those who spent so many happy years with you. The reaction to your death reflects how loved you were, and we're going to miss you so much Rob. Please rest in peace.

'I have known Rob all my life, well apart from the 6 months prior to him being born! I have to say that I have never known someone so loyal to their friends and I am just so grateful that I knew him, his family are great, I have spent many an evening intruding their house, like many others, as Michael says in his tribute you felt truly like one of the family. I wish to share with you all something I wrote to sum up my friend Rob-

R = Relationships, such a true friend.
O = Organisation, need a night out, we knew who to call.
B = Beaming, the smile that never fades.
E = Exercise, always keeping that gorgeous figure in trim.
R = Refreshing, to all those you ever met.
T = Time, just not enough of it, we can't move it back, but it's hard to move on with it.

God bless Rob, you will stay in my heart and thoughts forever,

Clare Andrews

Dear Robert

I only knew you for three months when you worked at Tesco but you were such a nice person to talk to. You were very helpful to me when I started working at Tesco. I will miss you very much. Love from Paul Shepherd.

What can I say? I think everyone has said everything about Rob. He was the most fantastic person Ihave ever met in my life and I was lucky enough to share some special times with him in the time we were together.
I first met him when Iwas 12 and from that moment on I knew he was amazing.
Even when we grew apart we remained friends and he was a brilliant friend. I have so many memories that will forever make me smile when i think of Rob.
I feel so honoured that Rob was my first love and he will always have a special place in my heart forever. So many unspoken words that will forever stay in my thoughts.
Rob, you will always be amazing and i will miss you so very very much.

May you carry on smiling with that beautiful smile and your blue eyes remain
breath- taking as always.

Love to you always Robbie x

Clare
