Welcome to the Evening News Local Heroes Awards 2008

For the last 6 years the Evening News Local Heroes Awards have been recognising the great unsung heroes of Norwich. These are people who go out of their way to help individuals or their communities with no expectation of reward or personal gain, or who show courage and determination against tremendous odds. We are proud to launch this year’s Awards in association with Holiday Inn Norwich North.

Christmas day life-saver up for award A community volunteer who went out of his way to help rescue a man on Christmas day has been nominated as a local hero. 22 August 2008

I didn't let ME stop me helping others A 24-year-old who set up virtual vacations for people who are housebound is the latest person to be nominated for a Local Heroes Award. 18 August 2008

Volunteer's baby books are so special A volunteer who is helping to collect a special book commemorating every still born child at the Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital has been nominated in the Volunteer of The Year category of the Evening News Local Heroes awards. 16 August 2008
